September 01, 2014

Whoa mama. I'm committing.

This is new. New and exciting and possibly unrealistic. But I'm going to blog every day in September. Well, every weekday. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

The lovely Whitney of Love Letters & Lists wrote something that really struck a chord with me the other day: she said that the blog world is really sucking right now.

It's so strange, but I kinda feel the same. I feel like a lot of the blogs that I've loved for a while are no longer ticking the boxes for me, and there are a whole raft of newbies coming in and I want to tell them to play nice*. There are less comments; less excitement because heaps of people are writing about the same products, services, and experiences; and there's less love.

Whitney set a challenge to fellow bloggers who might be feeling tired, unsure and looking to find their love for blogging again, and I feel like it's exactly what I need right now.

I will follow some of Whitney's prompts when I need a little help getting the words flowing, but other times I'll just write whatever pops into my head.

Wish me luck, eh?

Do you ever need help getting the words started? Any tricks you can share to to beat that mindblank?

*For me, playing nice means giving compliments, sharing the love, and not razzing on others. Don't forget, there's no wrong way to blog, but there are always wrong ways to behave.

  1. I've been blogging for five years now. This year I dumped my old personal blog and moved to my new. One. The blog world is kind of sucking right now. :( I'm hoping by doing this challenge to find my love for blogging again.

  3. I'm so glad that you're participating!! You're totally right about the whole "no wrong way to blog, but a wrong way to behave" thing. I remember the days of swapping ads and blogger support. I really hope we can get back to that!

  4. Whitney certainly did make a point about the blog world sucking. I remember that I was always excited about getting online and seeing what was out there but alot of people were doing the same thing over and over.

I am a newbie (blog but not alot) so I am not sure if mine is right or wrong but what I do know is that it is a challenge to find something to write about daily. I am so glad she started this challenge. Maybe now I will be able to get on a more structured schedule with writing since it is a list of ideas and if I am lucky, I will gain some followers as well.

I reserve the right to remove any mean-spirited or overly self-promotional comments posted, unless of course you're promoting cake... and you want to give me cake...
